Muhammad Yunus
• Born in 28 June 1940 in the seaport city of Chittagong
• studied at Dhaka University in Bangladesh and economics at Vanderbilt University till 1969
• Established the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh in 1983
• A member of the International Advisory Group for the Fourth World Conference on Women From 1993 to 1995
• Recipient of numerous international awards for his ideas and endeavors

• Yunus carried on giving out 'micro-loans‘ against the advice of banks and government
History And Impacts of His Venture
• pioneered microcredit, the innovative banking program that provides poor people small loans to launch businesses and lift their families out of poverty.
• collaborated with Danone to produce affordable, nutritious yogurt for malnourished children
• built eyecare hospitals that saved many poor people from blindness
• When money was lent to women after the Grameen Bank was founded, they were not only better borrowers, but also invested more of their earnings into their households.

• Yunus’ influence and words have moved thousands of business leaders, academics, and social entrepreneurs into further activities on behalf of the poor.
